"The Set UP: Acoustic Guitar + Microphone.
Brief History: ashrf is a fusion of Middle Eastern & American cultures, merging Sudanese roots with his rock influence to craft an original and enjoyable sound. His music was labeled “Middle Eastern Alternative” by the Owings Mills Times.
He has performed since he was a young boy in Sudan, and began playing venues and events in the DC Tri-State area in 2003. He is always the one to call for original Songwriter Showcases, international festivals, and has been the featured artist at many musical events. Because of his simple set up, he is quick to begin on stage and easy on the ears.
His unique and captivating sound is always a crowd favorite. His many performances include the featured artist’s slot on the Fredrick County Public Access show called “Backstage Pass.” His cover of “Allergy” by ilyAIMY was played at a local college radio station in Tennessee. Poetic lyrics crafted into pentatonic scales provide the main ingredients for his music, and his falsetto is always the icing on his musical cake. All in all, he is an acoustic act not to be missed."
"Now might be a good time to explain that Alex Gordon Hi-Fi does not fit into a genre. It's a real head-scratcher but this music is not a category, a check-in-the-box, or an aisle at the music store. The songs of Alex Gordon Hi-Fi are uplifting musical gems. Blending simple, catchy melodies with finely crafted lyrics and anchoring them in a deep groove. It is the sound of one man's complete and total happiness in his work. It's the kind of music that comes from a lifetime of searching and stretching for the next melody or the next lyric.
"Alex Gordon Hi-Fi is a musical project that springs from the mind of Alex Gordon. The guitar work, the songwriting, the production and arranging and the voice of Alex Gordon are what lay the groundwork for this unique and uplifting musical entity. Not merely a strummer who uses the guitar as a vehicle for his songs, Alex Gordon is first and foremost an accomplished fingerstyle guitarist. Effortlessly performs quiet acoustic bossa nova pieces, solo arrangements of popular music on baritone guitar or soloing with ferocity over a full-on boogaloo tune. Alex Gordon's guitar work gets people's attention."
"Solo nylon string guitarist. Specializes in Latin and ethnic music. Repertoire contains some classical standards by Bach, Tarrega, Albeniz, Granados, and De Falla"

"Accomplished studio musician specializing in trumpet performance. With a resume reflecting influences of jazz, fusion, orchestral and military music styles, versatility is Altruist's strength. Performance is a personal forte, however, composing for commercials and utilizing midi based music is also an asset. Altruist is endeavoring to establish a new plateau for music performance and musician outlook and disposition.
A native of Maryland, specifically Harford County, most of Albert's technique was developed in the backdrop of quiet woods within a community called Harford's Landing. With windows raised as a "child of the horn", support from the community has always been "humbly" received.
Notable influences in Altruist's life include family,(Asher, Yezre'el, Neferah, and Yahnedibah. Innumerable school teachers, close friends, the musicianship of Wynton Marsalis, Chick Corea, Hank Levy, Professor of Jazz (Towson University), Jim Murdza, the "Old Lady down the hall, and of course, the "upper one".
