There's hearty and wholesome fare for Olympian appetites at this casual and cavernous Greektown mainstay. Lamb, seafood, and crab cakes are the house specialties, and all of the ancient favorites are on tap--moussaka, spanakopita, dolmades, and pastitsio.
Homey breakfasts and lunches like pigs in a blanket and souvlaki at reasonable prices.
Homemade Italian food offered for comfortable dine in or take-out. Pizza, Calzones, Soups, Salads, Sandwiches, Subs, Strombolis, Entrees, Pasta, Desserts, and even Greek Specialties are 100% delectable. Catering of your event is also available to meet your customized needs.
Greek food--who knew? No greasy rotating column of anonymous gyro meat in this classy cultured pearl of a restaurant. Yes the food is Greek, but it's the food of a seaside gem on some tiny Aegean isle where dinner was swimming in the ocean only hours ago. Black Olive prides itself on using only truly fresh and organic ingredients, simply prepared to allow the food's own excellence to shine. Best bet is to select from the catch of the day, on ice by the kitchen. Have it grilled and served with the Black Olive's proprietary sauce that enhances both the sweetness and salinity of the exquisitely fresh fish. A little savory bread pudding (made with olive bread) on the side is also advised.
"Turkish and Mediterranean restaurant open daily for lunch, dinner and late night fare. Offering the best fresh healthy options as well as vegan menus"
"Cosmos is a clean restaurant that has a nice atmosphere. The restaurant won Baltimore's Best in the year 2000 for their cheese steak. Cosmos is now running monthly specials. Each month has 27 specials with low prices. They deliver to most of the Hamilton and the Parkville area."
Eastern House is thoroughly and enjoyably old school in the sadly fading tradition of everything-but-the-kitchen-sink restaurants, with broad menus encompassing everything from steaks to seafood to pasta to baked ham with pineapple rings. As a bonus, Greek dishes like pastitsio and moussaka are available and worthy. However, classic taste treats like mushroom caps stuffed with crab imperial, oyster stew, and prime rib of beef au jus are not just best bets but get-'em-while-you-can artifacts of American cuisine. Eastern House offers an unbeatable special theme menu each weeknight (our favorite is Thursday, International Night, featuring sour beef with dumplings) where entrées with veggies and salad are $8.95.
"Under new management as of 2/07, now consistently open and serving great fresh food! Come enjoy our Pizza, Pasta, Soups, and Sandwiches! Order takeout online at our website and skip the line!"
Trendy restaurants are popping up all over East Baltimore, but oblivious Ikaros just keeps on doing what it has done so well for so long: classic Greek fare served in a simple whitewashed dining room. Home to Baltimore's best moussaka, Ikaros also serves a standout taramasalata and gargantuan kebabs. And we are reasonably sure that this is the only restaurant in town that serves flaming cheese.
Choose to visit the marina-based Lillies when the weather's nice and you can sit at tables spread along the wide waterfront patio. (The inside seating is drab.) And absolutely make your meal from the fun listings of pan-Mediterranean tapas instead of the dull standard menu. Plucky pomegranate shows up a few times, brightening up the succulent baby lamb chops. Start with the Greek Zone, Lillies' version of the sampler platter. Lillies' offerings can be spotty and incomplete, but on the right summer night, the resortlike setting provides a no-airfare vacation.
This two-level "pastisserie and bistro" from the Kali's Court people rocks yummy food at moderate prices. Lovely entrees like pistachio-encrusted lamb chops and hanger steak are priced below $20. The wine-list and service are spot-on.
"Great Pizza carryout spot featuring Mikes Specialty hand tossed pizzas, delicious philly cheese steak subs and the best chicken wings you can find. Also features Mexican dishes including chicken quesadilla, burrito and tacos just to name a few. Conveniently located on St Paul Street between Chase St. and Eager St."
