Presented by the Howard County Public School System, the Howard County Recreation and Parks’ Department of Therapeutic Recreation and Inclusion Services and the Howard County Arts Council, two new exhibitions will be held at the HCAC this month. In Gallery 1, Alternative Processes–Alternative Materials feature works by Howard County students and their artwork created from a variety of different materials. In Gallery 2, No Boundaries features art work from Howard County residents who have developmental disabilities where they have the opportunity to explore media, styles and methods of creating art. An open reception will take place on Friday, March 14.
Previously stolen from the BMA, Pierre-Auguste Renoir's painting On the Shore of the Seine is on view for the public. His painting will be featured among twenty other artworks that was given to the musuem by Baltimore collector Saidie May.
Crystal Moll, the owner of Crystal Moll Art Gallery, will display her own work for the first time since the opening of her gallery in 2009. The paintings showcase the beauty of Baltimore neighboorhoods and she has spent over 20 years painting in the Baltimore area.
Towson's radio station 89.7 WTMD and Baltimore's online art publication, Bmoreart, presents "Everything On It." This exhibit is a multimedia site-specific installation that features artists Zoe Friedman and Andrew Liang combining Liang's mural paintings and Freidman's projections.
This exhibition explores this history of the banjo in Maryland. Since the mid-1700s, the banjo has been a staple in Maryland tradition. A banjo concert will take place on May 18 with local musicians displaying their talent and knowledge of traditional American music.
Students from the Refugee Youth Project have worked over the last two years with local book artists to develop storytelling techniques and skills related to their culture. Hailing from various countries such as Bhutan, Nepal, Eritrea, Ethiopia, and the Congo, these students have created their own personal books as art objects. Victoria Timpo, a M.F.A. candidate at the Maryland Institute College of Art, curated the exhibition.

Brewmore Baltimore, a documentary focusing on the history of beer brewing in the Baltimore region, will be screened for a public viewing at the Heavy Seas Brewery. The film is directed by Nick Kovaci and features local authors Maureen O’Prey and Rob Kasper. Of course, guests will be provided beer in honor of the documentary.
