  • Acropolis Restaurant

There's hearty and wholesome fare for Olympian appetites at this casual and cavernous Greektown mainstay. Lamb, seafood, and crab cakes are the house specialties, and all of the ancient favorites are on tap--moussaka, spanakopita, dolmades, and pastitsio.

  • Aida Bistro & Wine Bar

We offer a three course prix fixe menu nightly, available with hand chosen wines to compliment each course. We also feature a comfortable wine bar with an extensive wine list and a full bar featuring a specialty martini list."

  • Amer's Cafe

Eager-to-please little Amer's Café uses its wood-burning oven to excellent ends. Witness the fluffy, puffy, fresh-baked pita bread that accompanies the silky, garlic-scented baba ghanouj, tender schwarmas, and other Middle Eastern specialties, or the delectably crispy-crusted pizzas. Each of Amer's individually named flavors of pizza ventures far beyond boring tomato sauce and cheese; one favorite is the piquant Dahb, made with tangy marinated eggplant, roasted red peppers, pickled peppers, sun-dried tomatoes and lots of garlic. Add belly dancers every Friday and Saturday night and the house policy of letting kids make their own pizzas and you've got a recipe for fun. BYOB.

  • Baba's Mediterranean Kitchen

Tidy, small storefront that serves pitas, falafel, couscous, pizzas and more. BYOB.

  • Bistro Rx

A Patterson Park neighborhood joint with a creative take on pub grub, a serious wine list, and a changing group of beers on tap.  Dinner daily, lunch served on Saturday, and brunch on Sunday.

  • Corinthian Lounge and Restaurant

"Neighborhood restaurant and lounge with a Soul flare. Outstanding Crab Cakes, Steamed crabs and Hot Wings. Package goods and carry out. Outdoor deck and full restaurant, lounge and bar. A very popular place in the Randallstown/Woodlawn area.Entertainment most nights. Soul and R & B."

  • Cypriana Café

Arguably downtown's most popular walk-up lunch spot. The perfect falafel pita, outfitted with two--count 'em--chickpea fritters sustains many thankful vegetarians. Others begin there and move on to the meat pitas, the melty grilled panini, the generous rotisserie chicken, and fresh salads. The only discouraging words can be uttered about the prices, which are a dollar more than you'd like to spend on what is basically street food, even really good street food. The constantly filled outdoor tables offer unparalleled perches for watching people dressed in business attire.

  • Della Notte

Bread, pasta, and wine list, as well as buttermilk-battered oysters, foie-gras quail, roasted guinea fowl, duck confit, crab cakes and marbled beef. The Emperor's Lounge offers grappa, cigars, and piano lounge singers.

  • Desert Café

Desert Café's Middle Eastern and North African menu makes for great carryout but its whimsical interior--stars dangle from the ceiling, and banquette seating is piled high with comfy pillows--invites diners to stay. Classics are good--the enormous hummus sampler platter begs to be shared among many--but inventive updates like the curried mango chicken salad are even better. Given Desert Café's more-than-generous portions it is hard to save room for dessert, but once you check out the weekly roster of homemade treats, you'll be glad you did. BYOB.

  • Hilltop Carry-Out
  • Kali's Mezze

  • Kyro Pizza

Kyro Pizza offers a reliable menu of Middle Eastern favorites and pizzas with gourmet toppings (e.g. tandoori chicken). Anything that comes out of the wood-burning oven is worth eating.

  • Lillies Mediterranean Tapas Bar

Choose to visit the marina-based Lillies when the weather's nice and you can sit at tables spread along the wide waterfront patio. (The inside seating is drab.) And absolutely make your meal from the fun listings of pan-Mediterranean tapas instead of the dull standard menu. Plucky pomegranate shows up a few times, brightening up the succulent baby lamb chops. Start with the Greek Zone, Lillies' version of the sampler platter. Lillies' offerings can be spotty and incomplete, but on the right summer night, the resortlike setting provides a no-airfare vacation.
