The Audrey Herman Spotlighters Theatre puts on seven shows a season including two musicals, one children's show (usually over the holidays), and both well-known plays and ones by local playwrights. Many of the Spotlighters performances are based on contemporary plays.
Directed by Michael Tan and written and composed by Kevin Kostic, this musical explores the haunted relationship between a compulsive hitchhiker and his overly devoted girlfriend.
For many of us, efforts to reinvent ourselves are continually derailed by phantoms of the past. Dangerous impulses bring us and those we love closer and closer to the edge. This August, the Baltimore Playwrights Festival nurtures a leap of faith. Kevin Kostic's Unraveled on the Gravel, the festival's first full-length musical in 20 years, delves into the devotional deep while maintaining comic bravery and originality. Exploring the relationship between a compulsive hitchhiker and his girlfriend, the play seeks to illuminate the exhausting struggles of personal redemption and redefinition. Come on along for the ride.(Evan Tarantino)
