Located in Baltimore's scenic Mt. Vernon neighborhood, this internationally renowned museum includes artwork from the 3rd millennium B.C.E. to works from the early 20th century. Its earlier art collection includes ivories, jewelry, enamels, and bronzes in America, a spectacular group of medieval and Renaissance illuminated manuscripts as well as Egyptian, Greek and Roman, Byzantine, Ethiopian, and western medieval art. Its more recent works include French paintings that represent every major art trend in the 19th century. The museum also holds special exhibitions of work from all eras and areas of the world.
