Jitney
Pulitzer and Tony Award Winning August Wilson’s Jitney, starring Roscoe Orman. Every refrigerator in the urban African-American community during the 1940s up to the late ’70s had a telephone number or two posted on them – of African-American taxi cab drivers they could call on during the Jim Crow Era. These drivers were called Jitneys by residents in the Pittsburgh Hill District; known as Gypsies in New York, and Hacks in Baltimore. Seven Jitneys are set to drive guests through a moment in time.
