Damn you all to hell for making Valentine's Day this year something that this small box in the back of the paper can't shit all over, at least without some small amount of reservation. The "reason for the season," so to speak, remains the shameful industry we shall now and in the future refer to as Big Love, and the effect remains making a large number of people feel crappy and inadequate. Oh, a night of "romance and slow dance" will do that more than most things, but tonight you also get to hear a whole lot of local favorites doing sappy covers of slow jams, etc., including folks from bands such as Wye Oak, Lower Dens, and Ed Schrader's Music Beat (pictured), as well as Lexie Mountain (this writer's roommate, for disclosure's sake), Steve Strohmeier, and more. Also, this is a benefit for the Baltimore Community Foundation. (Michael Byrne)
