The Strand Theater Company has teamed up with StillPointe Theater Initiative to produce this musical comedy that addresses serious themes. The vivacious Viveca takes the titular bubbly approach to the racism and sexism of the ’60s as she attempts to become the greatest dancer in the world. The attempt to become the greatest anything in the world always makes for an interesting story, but use it as the vehicle to address body image, internalized racism, and the political upheavals of the civil rights movement, and you have theatrical dynamite—especially if you make it funny and set it to song.
