I read the title of this event and thought, Oh, this gives people the chance to confess their feelings to the friends they’ve secretly pined for. But if you read on, it says this is a celebration of Platonic Love, of the guys and gals who have your back through thick and thin and are very friendly but in a nonsexual way. And that’s something worth celebrating, right? Bring your buds for a Ben O’Brien-and-Alan Resnick-hosted night of dancing, with jams from Mickey Free, Chiffon, Dungeonesse (DJ set), Real2Real, DTF (that’s Down to Funk), and Alex Deranian. There’s also going to be a photo booth, trust falls, and something called a high-five machine, with proceeds benefiting the Wham City Comedy Tour, which is cool. Hey, wait a minute. I kept reading, and it says here on Facebook, “If you’re feeling the groove, there will also be a Love Lounge, complete with a Tunnel of Love, aphrodisiac treats, kissing/kinky booth, tarot, and more.” So that awkward tension and the urge to finally make a move—even though you know you won’t—will be hanging in the air all the night, same as ever? Oh, goddammit. (Brandon Weigel)
