The Lyric Opera House has excellent sound quality for operatic and other classical performances, along with the many Broadways shows they book. Big names in popular music, vocals, and the lecture circuit often find their way to this over 2,500 seat venue.
The King of Queens and Paul Blart: Mall Cop star performs stand-up.
Kevin James first became famous as the titular monarch on King of Queens. But at some point he separated himself from the horde of blue-collar fat guys on sitcoms (in the non-animated division), and it came out that he was “Adam Sandler’s buddy” in terrible movies like the Sandler-produced Paul Blart: Mall Cop and I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, for which he was nominated for two Razzies: Worst Supporting Actor and Worst Screen Couple, with Sandler. As the father of young boys, I can attest to the semi-genius of 2011 James vehicle Zookeeper, in which Sandler, voicing a monkey, encourages James’ to “throw poop at” his love interest, because “that’s how I met Karen!” Like James’ act generally, it’s gross, giggly, and not entirely un-fun if you’re open to poop humor delivered by a trained monkey, metaphorical or otherwise.
