Unless you've been there, it's hard to grasp what distinguishes Aldo's from its neighboring Little Italy restaurants. A lot of it has to do with chef Aldo Vitale's craftsmanship and his insistence on using locally purveyed ingredients, and on how you swell you feel in the double rowhouses' various Italianate rooms, all of them crafted by Vitale himself. Regulars have their favorite tables, waiters, and dishes. Aim high and fat: The tournedos Rossini gilds a filet mignon with foie gras, black-truffle oil, porcini, and wild mushroom sauce.
You can get tater tots as an appetizer or alongside any of the well-crafted sandwiches in various states of loaded-ness. The menu ranges from bar food to standards to more ambitious entrees.

Alizée has gone from fusion to high-concept comfort food. The menu changes seasonally, but look for bistro inspired fare-- roasted chicke, lamb confit, rabbit-- all done with clever sides like parsnip oatmeal.
Everything about Aloha Sushi is just right. The quiet dining room is dressed simply, service is friendly and prompt, and the food is pleasantly affordable.
There's been an upscale revamping and the pizzas have been gussied up. The immense burgers, though, are still here.
One of the city's most consistently excellent restaurants for many years, the Ambassador Dining Room serves elegant, sophisticated Indian food in an equally elegant and opulent setting. Classic Indian cookery--curries, vindaloos, biryanis--are always terrific, but the real dazzlers reside under the Chef's Recommendations section of the menu, where out-of-the-ordinary dishes like shrimp adrak feature a tightrope walk between green chile heat and restrained acerbic lime and sweet tamarind. The vegetarian menu is large and varied, and offerings like the outstanding Bengan bhartha (cumin and coriander-roasted eggplant) are skillfully prepared. The Ambassador's popular lunchtime buffet, served seven days a week, is a terrific deal.

The event will kick off by an interview of the curators and move on with Liz Durette, a Baltimore-based rising EDM artist and conclude with Asimina Chremos who will perform Perfect power, a solo dance/lecture written by Marissa Perel.
